I've been invited on another paddle trip in Alaska, this time down a river, not in the salt. I had a great time on the first trip, but the fishing, for lack of a better word: sucked. It was too early for the salmon runs and all of the other fish were still out of the coastal creeks and rivers. This time the water will be fresh, but it will still be in early to mid July, which I think is too early for decent fishing that far north. I'm thinking August or September would be better, true?
I love Alaska, but I want to go again when the fishing is better, not when the water is higher. Should I save my $$ for a later trip? Any help and/or advice from you Alaska veterans out there would be most welcome.
Cheers!
