Not sure I can fully answer. Fished the Trinity last weekend with a couple of guides that shared the concern that gillnets were taking more fish than the river can support. Salmon runs are down, steelhead runs are down from two years ago. There is a significent concern that many returning salmon, and steelhead are being taken in the nets. At this time there is not good data to measure the impact. I do know I landed two steelhead last weekend, and one had net scars. The runs are much below two years ago......normal cycle, or artificial impact? Don't know the answer, just sharing the concern.
