Hey Ed,
On the Green I paid for a "self-shuttle," where you drop your 'toon (or boat) at the put in and then drive down to the take out, and they pick you up there are bring you back to the put in. $20 at the fly shop in Dutch John, which was really worth it, since it was all hills and steep road going in and out of there.
The other times I rode my mountain bike, which wasn't exactly fun, but it worked out OK. I always drove the route first to make sure it wasn't to long or too steep. I was going to do a float on the Madison too, but the only way to do it via bike was to ride along Hwy 287, which is absolutely loaded with 18 wheelers, going Montana highway speeds. Scary!
I'm pretty new to the floating game, but I'm liking it since you can cover so much water and get to some prime places easily.
Glad you enjoyed my report.
Cheers!
