fact that Fly-fishing is by and large a luxury sport, when it comes to gear. The high-end products are bound to take it in the shorts...because I don't really "need" a $300+ fly rod or reel, when I already have a few at home. [heresy] Better rods do not make better fishers [/heresy] plus the fact that many FF'ers don't keep the fish for food, so it doesn't save on groceries. Also notwithstanding all of us who may sell said gear at better prices, to be able to feed the family or pay the rent.
