Took a couple of folks out on the river on Monday for a bit of fishing. The weather was great. The fishing was great. The catching was kind of slow. I rowed a lot, so didn't fish too much and didn't personally pick anything up. We landed a 22"er in the first 5 minutes though, so that was nice. Only landed one other fish for the boat, 18". Had some other fish on and several fishy looking indicator dunks, but none of that translated to fish in the net.
That bridge construction is not so hot. The 44 bridge is less tricky... got good advice to head to the right of the actual designated shoot... much easier.
The Cypress construction is longer to get through and requires a little correction half way through... that proved hard to do with 10 foot oars due to how cramped the area is. I wasn't at the sticks for the Cypress bridge and we ended up bouncing off one of the pillars (raft with frame, not a drift boat)... had a little "Save me Oprah" moment there.
Even the pros seemed like they were having less than stellar days (although, not surprisingly, they did better than we did).
So... good day on the water, but not the best catching I've ever had.
