I'm going into the ministry to work with recovering addicts and alcoholics.

It has been a couple of years since I posted.

I left saying I would never come back. I guess like James Bond, "Never Say Never".
I left with a bad feeling.
I was flamed for asking for a prayer for my son.
A place that had a heart, especially regarding personal loss and family - changed.


In my opinion what the board lost was tolerance. (plus a really crappy website/server/access)

I still follow people I admired here on other social sites and email. Folks like ElRay, PastorTD, and SST, and others that I shared fishing and life experiences with (divorce, child issues, etc.).

Fishing is a shared passion.
When you become friends with people who share a passion you end up caring for them deeply. There are still many of you here who I would put in that category (Carpy, Sal-Man, TroutDale, to name a few). People that would give you the shirt off their back.

If the board wants people back - simplify the site and open the bounds of tolerance.
It may be a little too little - too late.
But passion and compassion are remarkable things.

I agree 110 % over the years I have lost contact with most but stay in contact with a few,I haven't posted here since 04 and may still only lurk until I see a positive change

Lots of interesting comments--and the last, regarding waiting for positive changes, puzzles me. This board is so non-confrontational at this point compared to what it used to be. How much more does anyone want? The board software seems just fine to me, and I'm just using standard dsl. Folks are posting some fishing reports, the political comments of late have all been tongue in cheek. I see that there are a lot of folks registered, see plenty of people online when I'm online. I'll reiterate what I said a week ago or so--if you want to remake the board, post something and get engaged. It has been nice to see some reports from folks who previously haven't posted one. The rest of you lurkers, get it in gear already.

And R.B.: That sucks that you were flamed. Hope your son is doing better.

Anyone who flamed you for asking for prayers for your son is simply not worth your notice, never mind your anger. My apologies as a "Steering Committee Member" for that occurrence.

I couldn't agree more with the comments about R.B. getting flamed for asking for prayer for a child. Anyone that reponded in a negative fashion to that request isn't much of a human. I know I got flamed once for responding with information to a question, fortunely that person no longer seems to be on this board.

I stepped back for a bit myself but only because my interest in other hobbies
took the front seat but like everyone I've met here...flyfishing is in my blood !
Hope to see you on the water again my friend and my best to you and your family !!
