The Northern California Fly Fishing Board

Spent a week camped near Old Station on upper Hat. Bait fishers were taking good amounts of stockers in the usual places. Caught a few on buggers. There is a ton of water coming off Lassen as the big snowpack is melting. Lower hat and Baum were pretty much deserted. Ran into a local fly guy at Baum and he thought the dearth of fish was due to the high flow of unusually cold water which was holding off the bug hatches. Should improve as water returns to normal temp.

Thanks for the report. I sure hope the fishing improves when the run off is done - the Kings in Kings Canyon was still raging a week or so ago. Still gonna be awhile. but, it's not like we don't need the water.
