East Lake - Central Oregon 15 Years, 1 Month ago
So I think I received clarity on this sport I love so much called fly fishing. Today I fished at East Lake, in the Newberry Crater in Central Oregon. Access is quite limited, since snow is still a foot to two feet deep around the lake. The fishing was excellent, and I caught quite a number of rainbows on Chronomids to about 17". All the while I was fishing, the temperature was well below freezing and we were experiencing heavy snow. As I paddled around in my float tube, snow building on my stripping basket to about a half inch, I realized this is really a silly thing to do on a Saturday when I could have been at home warm by the fire. Sure glad I don't have all my marbles, as I would do it again in a second!

Sweet.

I am still trying to figure out cold temp fishing. All I seem to do is shiver!
