Montana--Mother's Day caddis hatch not quite 15 Years, 2 Months ago
Here in Montana since yesterday, through Sunday. Tried to time the Mother's Day caddis hatch, and though there are some caddis around, it's not really coming off. And the weather is pretty challenging. Winds gusting up to 50 mph--temperatures in Paradise Valley in the upper 30's, low 40's. Snow coming this way, maybe for the next few days. Still have managed to have two good days of fishing. Not monumental like it can be this time of year, but 15+ fish each day. Considering the conditions I'm feeling pretty happy about it. A few pics attached.

Thanks for the pics. I can't wait to get back. Just one more week and we hit the road. I do hope that the weather is a little better by then.

Unlike most trips I didn't venture far--almost fished the entire time within a tennis-court-sized area on the Yellowstone. But caught plenty of fish. That wind was brutal, and temps in the 30's, snow, rain, and oh yeah, wind. Up to 50 mph. Bound to be transitioning back out of that again soon.

Post some pics when you get there. Saw today at Gallatin Field that United is starting direct service for the summer from SFO to BZN. That's kind of cool.
