Jusasic Lake 15 Years, 2 Months ago

I spent opening weekend at work. But I did get to see an interesting fly fishing program on the tube. The Sportmaqn Channel has a program called Hooked On The Fly that featured Jurasic Lake. This Argentinian lake has monster McCloud rainbows. Not bad for TV fly fishing.

Did you notice you never got to see a tail on one of those fish?

I saw a presentation at the Pleasanton show a couple years ago. Looked like some monster trout. But as I recall the ride in is hella tough and long. The accommodations are not that great. Don't recall anything about the fish’s tails. Interesting place as I recall and I thought the lake did not have an outlet like pyramid.

The lake does not have an outlet. The Barrencoso River feeds it which is about 5 miles long. There are only two outfits that can get you on Lago Strobel, The Loop camp and Estancia Laguna Verde. The reason that some of the pics you see of fish that have rubbed off tail is because they are post spawn. Biologists have come to the conclusion that fish in Strobel are constantly spawning. So fish are constanly going up the Barrencoso River to spawn. So the Fishermen that fish at Loop Camp, which is at the outlet of the Barrencoso River have a good chance at hooking a fish just coming off the spawn in the Lake. I guided at Estancia Laguna Verde in the Winter of 09, My profile pic is a "lil" guy from Lago Strobel.
