Farewell to an old friend 15 Years, 4 Months ago
Nothing lasts forever, and today my constant fishing companion, my 5-year-old, once black, faded NCFFB hat, my "lucky" fishing hat, has gone to Davey Jones' locker. A willow branch grabbed said hat and tossed it into a zipping riffle as I fought a steelie. Yes, it's only a "thing" but I'll miss that cap.

I bought it's replacement about a year ago and will don it tomorrow. It's a black baseball cap with a steelhead playing an electric guitar on the front and it proclaims "Metalhead".

Here's a photo of my departed cap, taken a couple of weeks ago. RIP my friend.

Baaarucie,

That has got to be one of the most fungus encrusted, spawning fish the Shepherd has seen a clueless redds rapist like yourself rip off the spawning gravel in quite some time young man! The Shepherd now fully understands WHY you said Senor Shepherd would not enjoy fishing the particular spot on the river where you were getting 'em. That fish was clearly trying to get his groove on prior to your interference....

How the hell would you like it if someone threw a grappling hook into your bedroom, snagged you in the head, and dragged your dumbass out into the hallway right as you were about to put Percy in the Playpen??? That ain't flyfishing by anyones definition.....

The fish this time of year range from chrome to spent, in the same bucket. NOT a spawning area. You remember what a bucket is don't you? Remember way back when you used to fish?) I don't choose who takes my fly. I just land 'em and let 'em go.

Here's another one from the same spot, only you don't see my hat in the photo, and this post was about the hat.

Forgot to adjust the size of the pic, so here it is. I didn't move it onto the rocks for the photo, so stay off of my butt Shep. I landed it on this spot, photoed it and had it back in the water in seconds.

You must have a really small weiner. I'd bet money on it.

Not Andrew, your weiner, dumbass.

Please stop molesting fish and taking pictures. It makes me sick.

Have you considered Sheise films? Just as revolting to all of us and no fish get interrupted or hurt during their reproductive duties.

The easy solution would be to not take pics of the spawers or spent fish that you happen to catch. Certainly don't post them on the internet.

I think you're right on this one, Shawn, about not posting shots of dark fish. I should have just cropped to the hat, I guess.

I always thoght of buckets as spots along the fish throughways where they stop to rest on their journey to spawning. That is what this area was. Occasionally, I could see the fish, but most of the time I couldn't. Those that I did see were resting before moving further up the riffle I was fishing. I saw no spawning fish, and would not have fished for any of them had I seen them.
