Fishing the Eastern Sierras 16 Years, 8 Months ago
Hi,

This is my BD week, so as usual I am taking the whole week out to go flyfishing. The girls and I will be tenting camping at some campground in the Lee Vining area.If you see me, say hi. Plan to go the Whoa Nellie Diner and see Mono Lake. Plan to fish the EW in the evening again. Driving down to Lone Pine to fish for golden trout. While I had been to bridgeport this year, I have never been to the other areas of the eastern sierras before. Plan to leave oakland tomorrow morning and arrive back on Friday. 1st time over sonora pass.

Loretta, if you are taking your teardrop I would suggest you take another route than Sonora Pass. It is extremely steep and winding. I have only known one person that did it and he swore he would never do so again. We want you and the girls back in one piece!

Our fly club will be in the Bridgeport area Friday, Saturday & Sunday, so perhaps we'll run into each other (on the river, not the road).

Hope you have a GREAT birthday!

Loretta,

Make sure you stop along the way and take pictures. The last few miles before the summit have awesome rock formations surrounding you. The view from the summit is nice as well. Enjoy your trip! We will be on the East Carson this weekend.

Dustin

P.S. One of those spots I emailed you about was on fire Thursday evening. Two hours of pure fun, rainbows and browns to 14-15". Boy were those fish feisty! Email me or send a PM for more information.

Wow! Sounds like there will be quite a crew from the board over in Bridgeport this weekend. I'm going as well. One of my Father's Day gifts is a weekend pass to go fishing without the family. I love traveling with them, but the times of day when I want to be on the water are also the times when the family wants to eat.

Where are you guys staying? I'll be at Twin Lakes on Friday and Saturday nights.

Hey Stretch,

We will be camping at Buckeye Campground, 6 or 7 miles from Twin Lakes. We will be there Thu, Fri, and Saturday nights, leaving Sun morning.
We'll probably hit the EW on Friday to help reduce our contact with the worst of the crowds. After that, not sure.

I drive a silver 4Runner with a "Proud of my Sailor" sticker on the back window. The one thing I know for sure timing-wise is that we will be getting breakfast together at Hayes Street Cafe on Saturday morning, so you could meet us there. Other than that, we are very flexible and will be flying by the seat of our pants.

What are your plans at this point?

Hey Buzz,
I'll be arriving in Bridgeport tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. I'll most likely put the tube in the water at Lower Twin late in the day, then off to dinner at Sportsmen's. I will more than likely avoid the crowd on the river altogether this trip. Saturday I'll probably hit Virginia Lakes or Green Creek. I'll keep my eyes open for you. I do remember your truck (and the sticker).
