Has anyone ever fished The Fly Shop's private waters on Battle Creek and if so how was the experience? Thanks.

I've fished the Rock Creek property and it was very good. I would hope the The Fly Shop would maintain similar standards at all of their private waters.

I haven't fished it in three years, my buddy fished it last year. It's good, the best experience is if you are willing to walk. The Coleman ditch is very easy access that we'd fish at dusk mostly with dries because it's close to camp (on the property). The various beats are somewhat strenuous and are like a mini Pit River, although not the big round boulders that you slip off of all over, it's more the hike down a small canyon the resembles parts of the pit. Wildlife and scenery are awesome and because of the type of fishing it seemed to trim down the number of clientele.

I've had spectacular indicator fishing on weighted black Kaufmann stoneflys. The fish are colorful and fight hard, the ones I caught ran anywhere from 12" to 18"(Rainbows). In the fall some steelhead make thier way up and add an extra treat, my buddy seems to get one or two everytime he goes (around 20" to 25"

Hope that helps.

I had my bachelor party there... I'm not a Vegas kind of guy. The ditch was fun, although it may be different now, as I understand it was drained and filled since I was there (5 years ago). The river itself is beautiful, but kind of hard to get to. I broke a rod there getting to the water. There was one beat that you could drive to and while I didn't fish it, I understand it was A LOT easier to get around down there. Pretty cool having a place like that to yourself. Really pretty water.

We pulled a couple of 20" from the ditch (and put them back in) and I think the largest fish taken from the river was about "16 or so.

I have fond memories of that place.
