missing kayaker. 17 Years, 7 Months ago
This story was in the Chico ER this morning....did anyone see troutdale or kempkes in the area of kimshew creek that morning carrying a 30-06.

STIRLING CITY -- An expensive kayak found on the banks of Little Kimshew Creek 11 days ago, apparently with no one around, has become the center of a growing mystery.
The Butte County Sheriff's Office said the boat was found about two miles east of Stirling City in an area so remote it could only be recovered by deploying personnel from a helicopter and flying it out.

On Aug. 9, the day it was found, deputies and search and rescue teams scoured the area for anyone associated with the kayak, but were unsuccessful.

The kayak reportedly has some fresh damage — a fish hook shaped cut in the outer hull about 20 inches long.

The boat is a Mystic Creeker, made by Bliss Stick Designs. It's approximately six feet in length and has been custom fitted to its owner.

The Sheriff's Office is seeking any information that may be known about the kayak and the circumstances surrounding its location. Officials said the main concern is knowing if the owner is safe so a search effort

It was probably Bigfoot. Even he hates them creek boaters.

A WW kayaker would never litter the creek with their abandoned boat? He was probably picking up his pot harvest and was so stoned he sliced it on the rocks and left his crapped out boat for someone else to pick up.

Having been a WW kayaking for years and lost friends to the sport...some things just shouldn't be joked about.

Life is Precious 17 Years, 6 Months ago
Brett, please don't take this wrong....

If an adrenalin junkie wants to get in a Corvette, drive 150 mph down a deserted road and kills himself/herself, he/she is an idiot and I have no sympathy for him/her. If he/she does it in town weaving thru traffic and puts others lives in danger, I hope they whack a tree before they hurt someone else. I have absolutely no remorse about my feelings. I feel sorry for the law enforcement and first responders who have to chase the idiot down and peel them off the tree/cliff/building/guardrail...

If an adrenalin junkie wants to bungee jump off the Auburn Ravine bridge and his bungee breaks, I have no sympathy for him/her. If they do it when a car drives by and it distracts the drivers of the car so they risk and auto accident, I hope the bungee jumper whacks the rocks. I feel sorry for the people who have to hose the remains off the rocks.

If an adrenalin junkie wants to WW kayak down a river and put their life at risk, please don't expect me to feel sorry for them when they drown. Please don't expect me to have any respect for them when they lobby for and get the river flows levels changed so it is MORE DANGEROUS/EXCITING to WW KAYAK and it raises the danger level for EVERYONE ELSE who uses the river, putting our lives at risk so they can FEEL THE RUSH! To me, they are as stupid as the Corvette idiot and deserve the same outcome.

The same goes for the idiots who decide to ride out the hurricanes, mountain climb in the dead of winter, tornado chasers, back country skiers, skydivers, shark swimmers, investment bankers... if you die or get maimed...you die. You did it, it was your choice, no one forced you to do it, please don't expect me to cry for you or spend one dollar finding you, fixing you or cleaning up after you when you die. Hopefully it brought meaning to their poor, pathetic lives.

Wooooow! Some interesting views and some points I do agree with. However, if someone died my condolences go out to them. I'm in favor of dropping the flows on the upper American for some dry fly action!!! What do you think? -Pit

Yeah, better to do what TroutNut does and just sit home on your computer and disparage those folks that choose to go outside and enjoy life--it is much safer that way. (You might not get any women, or make any friends, but at least you can live vicariously via internet through those that do).
