Well the shots in my knees seemed to be working, so they got the ultimate test on Saturday. I have only fished about three or four days this year due to the fact that I couldn't walk 100 yards with out great pain.
We fished the Middle Feather at an unnamed location. The fishing was great as usual. We started out fishing the Velma May nymphs. The trout were good with that but I didn't see any shucks on the rocks so the hatch is not in full swing yet.
As the sun got on the water I switched to a dark olive stimulator #10.
This worked as good or better then the nymphs so I fished dries the rest of the day. The best fish of the day was an 18" inch brown. He took the stimulator fished in tiny a pocket. I was surprised to get a fish that size in that kind of spot. This was the first brown I had ever taken from that section of the river.
The water is the lowest I've ever seen it, but it did have some advantages. I was able to make many crossings I would have never tried before. I was also able to fish a bunch of places that I could have never fished properly in the past.
As for the knees they passed the test with flying colors. We hiked about 3 miles of stream (1 1/2 up and 1 1/2 back down) plus the climb in and out of the canyon.
The rest of my body is KILLING me!
Look out fish TD is back!
