The river Why ? 17 Years, 8 Months ago
Last saturday I was fishing and there was a film crew at one of the fishing holes on the clackamas filming the fishing scenes
for the movie the river why. It was funny to see dudes fishing everywhere while they were filming. If you want a good read get ahold of this book. It set on many of the steelhead rivers on the oregon coast.(sorry no pics) cameras werent allowed.

Amber heard is in a starring role.

Funny. I've read the screenplay and the book is one of my favorites. I'm looking forward to this movie.

Yes, a favorite of mine, too. Always wondered how they'd do the naked woman in the tree scene. Guess I can imagine it more easily now.

That's got to be my favorite FF book. I can't count the number of times I've read it over the years. Good old Gus Orviston and his attempt to get away from it all on the banks of some secluded river in an old abandoned cabin.

It seems to me they tried to produce this into a movie years ago but were unable to put it together. I was hoping Redford would get involved and work some of his magic as he did on "A River Runs Through It."

If you haven't read the book by all means pick up a copy - I don't see how you can help but enjoy it. Duncan also authored another book "My Story as Told by Water" which I enjoyed but not nearly as much as "The River Why". I look forward to seeing this film upon its completion. And I'm really looking forward to seeing Amber up in that tree.

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.

Brothers K 17 Years, 8 Months ago
I remember reading the Brothers K in the car while my tent leaked onto my brothers and father. The downpour kept coming. I was startled by a knock on the window. My brother Steven, looking like a drenched rat, roared, "There's an inch of water on the tent floor, the sleeping bags are soaked and so are we. We're going home!"

That was our only attempt to go camping as a family (with Dad).

She's not SLO's type. Nothing for the velcro gloves to hold on to and her feet are too big to fit in his boots!

One of my favorite scenes is when Gus's parents meet. Classic conflict between fly fishing and bait slinging. Since opposites attract, they fell in love.

Isn't the girl's name "Eddy"?

Just got my computer back from the shop and saw your post, Ed. Seven P's in right! But that was back in, oh, about 1981 and I only practiced about three of those P's back then. I'm better at that now!
