Re:Is this the pattern? 17 Years, 7 Months ago
Depends. If you are fighting the wind, a 7 or 8 wt is good. I usually use a 6 wt, or sometimes a 5 wt, for both indicator fishing and for stripping buggers (use a heavy line to get down fast---I use my 250 grain striper line with my 6 wt, 350 grain for my 7 wt). Fish are not leader shy, so use 10 or 12 lb maxima for stripping, and 6 or 8 lb flouro for indicator fishing.

It's okay to thump your chest a bit. It ain't braggin', it's sharin'. We can all live vicariously through your experiences, especially those of us who ain't goin' fishin' for a while.

Any pix?

Re:31 inch fish !!!!! 17 Years, 7 Months ago
Good to see you again Betty Sorry again that I missed out on Sunday.

Yes, that was great fish. My best trout ever in fact! I hooked a good one not much before that but didn't fight it aggressively. It kind of walked me and came free. Standing out there on the ladder gives you some time to think about those kind of things ( --> --> ), so when I hooked this one I gave it some stick and angles. Still hadn't see him, but while he'd fairly given in when I stepped off the ladder, he was still arcing around strongly. I was pretty tentative getting it around the ladder, but made the back stepping to shore without much bother until he got shallow. He gave a couple good slashes, and my heart started to really pump. Grabbed him in the shore break and believe me I had a good grip on that tail! Greg was up snacking on one of his rare breaks. "Uh Greg, can you give me a hand for a second?" "Huh? sure" I made him take an extra pic just in case. Released for another day. I even called my mom that night

Re:Recent Pyramid Trip 17 Years, 7 Months ago
Accurate report Ed. A couple of things come to mind when I consider my trips to Pyramid. Good People, good fishng (never been skunked) and I'm glad you enjoyed the Scapa from Orkney.

Ed at a Bash. Which one?

Can you provide more infor on this pattern. I did a quick web search and didn't find anything.

Bob

I would be amazed if you HAD found anything. It's kind of an inside joke...

Basically the fly is based on Hogan Brown's Red Headed Stepchild
http://www...ed-Headed-Stepchild.aspx

The only modification is that the Red Headed Accordion Player has a pink butt...

Don't ask.

Eric,

Very nice fish. Definitely bigger than the fish we got for Dawn last Fall.
