Anybody know if the lake is ice free yet. Was thinking about trying it in a couple of weeks.

Just got a report from someone who was there yesterday that is still about 80% covered with ice.

I forgot to add the report said he thought it might be fishable by this weekend. It was an email so I haven't talked with him to get the details,I though like you at 80% covered it would be a few weeks. I fished McCumber last year in February. I may try it this weekend.

I usually don't start fishing it untill March. A few years ago I fished it in a pretty good snowstorm. Almost a white out, but you could see these black sooty specs on the water(Callibaetis). The flies were actually easier to see than under normal conditions! Had a pretty good day. If you do decide to go, please let me know what the conditions are. Thanks again.

Yesterday I was able to call the guy that was up there on Tuesday. He said the center of the lake is open with ice all around the sides. He wasn't sure if you could get in the parking lot because of the snow, that happened to me a couple of years ago because of the ice berm caused by the snow plow you couldn't get into the parking lot. He is going to check for me this weekend and let me know.
