No Fishing Report but a CD Update ! 17 Years, 9 Months ago
Hey Folks,

Well, I don’t have any fishing updates to post about but I do have some news on our CD to share with you all. We finished the final mixing, our guest reviewer from the California Bluegrass Association has finished her review and liner notes for our CD package and we are essentially done with the design of the package! We changed the name of the CD to “Bob Played Here”, which was the song we kicked the CD off with, our original tribute song to Bob Wills, the King of Western Swing !

Ed Kelleher and others out there familiar with what goes into a CD can appreciate all the effort that goes into putting one of these things together. It is an unbelievable amount of work, coordination and compromise from all the band members, your recording folks, guest artists and Production Company. I compare it to a 9 month pregnancy and giving birth but knowing it is not really that hard but it does take longer than that!!

Anyway, here is the CD front and back cover along with a short excerpt on the back from our reviewer Carolyn Faubel from the California Bluegrass Association (CBA). She really liked what we did and gave us great review ! We are looking at a CD release event somewhere around Sacramento in February. I will let you all know when and where.

By the way, we are debating on the Font Color for “Western Lights” on the bottom of the front cover of the CD. It seems the red is a little harder to read so we are thinking of using the yellow bus color. A few comments from those of you who think one or the other color looks and reads the easiest would be appreciated. Thanks!

Best Wishes to all my fly fishing buddies out there !

Bill

Front CD cover, Yellow or bus color alternate font for Western Lights

Back CD cover, with our very nice review comments!

Milk Cow Blues! I love that old song. Hearing George Strait do it in concert with his band is amazing! If you haven't checked out his live album with AJ and Jimmy Buffett from last year, it's worth the listen for the instrumentals on that song. Their version of "Sea of Heartbreak" is also really good, and hearing George do "All My Exes" some twenty years later shows you how much he has matured. I see you have covered the Hag as well. Cool.

We've been trying to get the $$ together to cut a demo. Just four or five songs, but for some reason, the studio likes to be paid. I cannot imagine why....

[Hey TD,

Milk Cow Blues is definitely one of our favorite songs we do. What makes this recording even more special is my son and I have a twin, lead guitar part that is really cool . I have each of the three kids as a guest artist, each on on a different song .

I am a big fan of George Straight along with a number of other Country legends including Merle, Hank and on and on . Hope you and I get a chance to share some music together sometime. Go for that demo, just one song and step at a time. It was a demo that my oldest son and I did when he was 10 (now he is 27 )that ultimately led to me recording with Western Lights.

Best Wishes!

Bill

Hey Bill, You got that right - and just like a pregnancy, no matter how hard you work, you never know if the result will be successful or not. At least once they are published, CDs don't get sick, or pregnant or stoned......

Looking forward to hearing it. The Hounds are doing some studio time too - got a pair in the oven...

Hi Bill,

Can't wait for the release. Hopefully we can make it to the party. Gonna get a copy of the CD one way or another!

BTW, I like the red. It brings out the stripe on the side of the train car and no, I don't think it's hard to read.

Take care,

Buzz

Thanks for the Comments! 17 Years, 9 Months ago
Hey Folks,

Thanks for all your comments and the interest in the CD ! I can't wait to share it with all of you who are interested.

Congratulations Ed to the Hounds on having a couple projects in the "oven". Give my best to them. Thanks also to those of you with your your comments/recommendations on the font color. While I think either would work the band is leaning toward the yellow as it seems to jump out at you better. It appears that is the consensus here as well. If any others want to put your 2 cents in on this please do so.

It won't be to much longer now !

Best to all,

Bill
