Unhappy New Year on the SLR... 17 Years, 9 Months ago
What a lousy start to steelhead season Almost no rain (until now, that is) has the "river" running at 17CFS, far below the level needed to open up the mouth and let the fish in. Of course, now we're going to get tons of rain that will open up the mouth, but blow out the river.

As if no water wasn't enough, our local "newspaper" is reporting that New Zealand Mud Snails have been found in the lower reaches of the river, they're going to be really hard to control as the closest Taco Bells are in Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz I guess the only good thing is now I can use the same wading gear (properly cleaned of course)on my home river as I use on other infested waters.

I walked the river last weekend, it sure is pretty in there. No fish, though. With the high tides this weekend after some rain we may get some fish moving up, though. I hope this breaks the dismal rain pattern and we will start getting some regular rain. I'm afraid we're doomed with the NZMS. They will spread all over the spots near the Bay area.
