How come they call it veterans day. Most of us vets don't get it off. Maybe they should call it Govment day since they seem to be the only people that have the day off!

Re:Vets.... 14 Years, 9 Months ago
I was going to initially let this pass but I just can't. Veterans Day is a day to reflect on the service of those who served their country in time or peace or war. They wrote a check for their life to serve their country, just as so many have. Many have had their checks cashed and should be remembered on this day, whether or not we have the day off. A holiday is not what it is about. I attended the local United States Marine Corps Birthday Celebration today. There I had the honor to meet and talk with some real heros, men and women who have served their country honorably and with great pride. Seven men from 90 to 82 who served in WWII, several who served in Korea and numerous who served in Vietnam. Enough from this Doggie who thanked God many times for the USMC being there when I needed them. If you see a vet tomorrow, thank them for what they did. Thank you for your service Trouttickler.

Hi Charlie! Guess I should have put a smiley face on that. Thanks for your service also. I understand what veterans day is suppose to be about, and I do appreciate those who put their life on the line.I'm sure we're both lost a few good friends, but it isn't me that I'm concerned about, it's my grandsons who might be put in harms way for some politians trumped up idea or some businessmans profit! If we really respected our vets we wouldn't alow the politians to lead us around by the nose for phoney reasons(Tonkin gulf, WMD's!) There are good and valid reasons for warfare and it's a shame to put our kids in danger for any other reason. Sorry for the rant!
