I have been working on the Lower Sac all winter. And only the L.S. Nowhere else. Guess I'm the area Lower Sac specialist, as 95% of the local guides are on the 'T'. The LS has been void of guides most of the winter.
The LS has fished great almost all season, despite the lower return of salmon. Late Oct, I was averaging 60 fish hooked per day for two clients.(4-5 per day over 20" ) November was more like 40 per day. December and January have been about the same. "Slow" days will see 20-25 hook-ups. Eggs have started to work well lately, but they didn't work very well Nov-Dec. The rains and dirty waters recently has really helped the bite and brought a few more salmon in.
This being my 12th year guiding fly fishermen on the Lower Sac, I have it dialed. Also, being a FFF Certified Casting Instructor really helps my clients to pick up the style of fishing quicker. I'm not a part time guide, THIS IS WHAT I DO.

At this time I am using a small jet sled to get to places drift boat guides can't get to. (where the avg. size is 19", and my best last week was 25" )
I'm pretty sure I'm booked solid next weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun), but there are mid-week dates open if anyone needs a fix.
It's very low right now, so wade fishing is a good option if one is not interested in hiring a professional.
