Congrats on hooking a steelhead on your first trip. That's a feat accomplished by few. It often takes a few, or many trips before figuring out that magic! And I second Dawn's proclamation of Brrrrrrrr! I left the Trinity the day you arrived. I had fished from Sunday to Wednesday just prior to Thanksgiving. You picked a time when the weather was cold, 25 degrees first thing in the AM, Ice in the guides till noon, and the river seemed colder. I heard a report from Tuesday from a guide that the water temp was a crisp 39 degrees. I had waders and fleece and insulated underwear and gloves and layers, a heavy fleece coat and a warm hat and I still shivered. Can't imagine taking a swim in that condition........Brrrrrr! Fishing was tough while I was there. The river needed rain in the worst way. It was low and clear and the fish were skittish. I hooked 3 in 2 1/2 days. You guys did good.
