The videos aren't showing any more. (No biggie, if others want to see pics, there are lots of posts on Dan Blanton's board or see http://www.rescuethefish.org/ .)

Any way, big to the scores of volunteers who are literally dredging through the mud to save these fish, mostly stripers.

Last week the Bureau of Wreck-lamation was blocking volunteers from helping; supposedly yesterday they were coordinating the rescue effort.

We've got our own "Katrina" scenario -- the levee breaks, the fish swim onto the island. The island has to be drained and reclaimed, but the stranded fish are mostly non-native fish that, oh by the way, are the main predator of the threatened, endangered Delta Smelt. So while the federal agencies stand idly by and think "Why do we want to save these stripers?", scores of volunteers go out in the muck because it's the right thing to do. And now finally the feds are coordinating relief efforts?

No wonder stripers are such voracious predators. I would be too if I were treated this way...
