G.M. Question on viewing posts/threads 17 Years, 6 Months ago
When I am reading a thread and click back to the main page
to view other threads, it always takes you back to the top
of the Board page.

I believe the old board used to take you back to where you
were viewing the last thread (on the main page). Just kinda
frustrating to scroll back down and try to locate where you were.

Anyway to enable that? My apologies if someone has brought this
up before.

Hey Eric - in Internet Explorer (at least version 7.x anyway) when you hit the "back button" on the browser it will take you back to where you left off (so you don't have to scroll down). Firefox doesn't seem to do this. I usually click the Campfire link at the top - but this will take you back to the top. I'll think more about this and see if we can't make it easier. In fact the Steering Commitee is getting together this weekend to talk about this stuff - so we are actively trying to improve things. One note about the Steering Committee - it's not intended to be some sort of "closed group" - others will get a chance to participate at some point if they desire.

I am using IE6 on WinXP and this works correctly for me, so it may be specific to your setup. I have noticed, however, that at times it takes a few seconds once the page is drawn to "click" down to where you were before.

Try waiting 5-10 seconds once the page refreshes without touching any keys or the mouse.

Well - at least the viewed posts now change color. That wasn't happening before and hopefully makes it easier to keep track of what you have read.

I'll be 3rd on that one too. I kind of liked it taking me back to where it was when I left it. I was using Firefox then (old board) and still use it now. So it can't be a Firefox problem. Or can it?

Hey Greg! 17 Years, 6 Months ago
Just my two cents thrown in for what it's worth. Like you really don't have enough to do!! The item I miss the most is when I used to get an e-mail notice when someone replied to one of my posts. Saved having to fish through hundreds of threads looking to see if anyone did, especially if it was a few days old because I was out of town or something.

You can still get that email notification. Just check the box at the bottom of the page when you post:

Hey Beerfly! 17 Years, 6 Months ago
You cannot get email notifications specifically to post you have made, but you can subscribe to a topic and you will receive email notifications whenever someone posts to a topic you have posted in (or any other topic you are particulary interested in). You can take yourself off of a subscribed topic any time you want.

To subscibe to a topic, you can do what Phil mentioned, or you can click the red button at the top of a post that says "Subscribe". This button is above the black bar above the post and is with the buttons "Reply to Topic" and "Favorite".

When you subscribe to a topic, you can later unsubscribe by either hitting the "Unsubcribe" button (the "Subscribe" button turns into this after you subscribe) OR you can manage all of your subsciptions and favorites and view your posts from the home page by hitting the "My Posts" link in the left hand column. This will take you to a page that has all your posts listed and in the left hand column on that page, there is an option to look at "My Subscriptions". Clear as mud?

I miss email notifications to my specific posts too, but perhaps it is something that will be addressed in future software releases. If you have any further questions or if this makes no sense whatsoever, I would be happy to try to explain it better.
