Hey Josh,
I was just upstream of Pulga at Sandy Beach (that is where I saw the giant mayflies). It was pretty slow there too. I fished there most of the afternoon with only two hookups (both lost) and jumped up to Cresta Reservoir about 4:30. I did have success in catching pikeminnow there. There was a caddis hatch going on up there, but I caught my fish on garden hackle
I was desperate at that point, and I didn't want to have another 500 mile round trip end with a skunk
At least you got some trout. I hate it when I lose a fish because of a broken hook!
