Hi everyone,
Sorry it has taken me so long to post my report and pictures, works been keeping me busy.
I ventured up to the NF of the Feather on Sunday morning. I decided to go fish below Poe. I got on the water about 11:00 AM. The wind was absolutely screaming. I spent the first 3 ½ hours fishing (or I should say trying to cast) in consistent winds of 10-20 mph with gusts at probably 30mph. To say the least casting was a real pain. At times I was literally waiting 2, 3, 4 minutes between casts waiting for the wind to calm long enough to get a cast or two out. I was considering going home to watch football but I really wanted to fish, so I decided to stay. During this time I fished a BWO, green stone fly, PMD, & caddis. At times I had a dropper on (copper john, bwo, stonefly). Between everything I threw I had minimal luck, I caught one small 8” and missed another 3-4 fish (one big one). Part of the reason I was missing them is the wind was grabbing my fly line and skating my bugs across the surface.
I sat down by one of my favorite holes at 2:30 to have some food, watch the water, and wait for the shadows to come on. I started fishing again around 3:00. Over the next 2 hours I caught five fish (and missed about 5, definitely a little rusty). I caught one real nice 16 ½” that was an absolute football, the other 4 were between 10 – 12”. There was a real nice hatch of BWO’s and what I think were Isonichia Velma’s that came off from 2:45 till about 4:00. I took some pictures but they didn’t come out well. Overall it turned into a nice afternoon fishing and the dogs and I had a good time.

So not the clearest pictures but I'm hoping someone can tell me definitively if this is a Isonichia Velma?

My dad’s coming up this weekend from Atascadero so I think we are probably going to give it another shot. I’ll hopefully get some better pictures since there will be 2 of us, so I will post another report.
Tight lines,
