Growing older doesn’t necessarily mean “growing up”. As I get older, which is a good thing by the way, especially when compared with the alternative, I thought I would settle down, relax and not be bothered by the anticipation I so sorely felt before trips when I was younger. FAT CHANCE!!!!!
The last few nights I have been tossing and turning, unable to relax as thoughts of what the next two weeks will bring. What did I forget (I made a list but I ALWAYS forget to put something on it)? What is the weather going to do? The harvesting of the game is secondary although the meat is very important to me, and also to those who share the meals I cook on fishing trips. Again, the company, the scenery, excitement of stalking, and the memories that are generated outlast any negative aspects of the trip.
Dang, I can’t hardly wait to get on the road. Anyone else here in the same state of mind when they are preparing for an outing, no matter how short, long, or complicated? I sure hope so, because when I stop being excited is when I’ll just stay home and vegetate. I don’t really think that is going to happen until I get way-y-y-y older. Ed K, you are my hero!!!!
Charlie,
You appear to have been either reading my mail or peeking in my windows. This last weekend I forgot:
My PFD for my float tube
The Chains for the Truck
and two other things that I have forgotten again.
Next week is a Redding trip - wonder what I'll forget.....
Oh well, I have a few days to remember it - if I write it down, maybe It'll come along....
