Hey buzz thanks for the info. Based on what you said we've decided to drive up 140 instead, and camp out near briceburg. There is a long dirt road that follows the river off the highway w/ some sweet campsites and decent fishing a few miles in. I think we'll have a better chance of getting a site out there w/out having to look to hard.
Our trail reservation isn't until monday, but we're gonna camp in briceburg on saturday, get up first thing sunday and see if we can't get a walk in permit for sunday. If not, we'll just fish in the tuolumne meadow all day and our monday permit allows us to camp out there that night.
Should be an awesome trip! I saw several HUGE brown trout on the trail last year. I'm prepping to try and catch one of them this time.
