Patagonia Report - Short 17 Years, 11 Months ago
Long trip south this week. Two days of travel. Finally got down to what we came for yesterday morning. Spent two days on the Rio Futafeleu floating two stetches. This is a big dam controlled river, which reminds me of the Missouri in Montana. Big water. hence the name, Futefeleu (Rio Grand). This afternoon we within 1/4 mile of the Chilean border as we finished our float. Great fishing on the river. Floated in rafts approximately 12-14 kilometers each day. Lot's of willing fish in the river. This afternoon we hit a really nice stretch with a number of fish in the 18-20 inch range, all taking small black wooly buggers. It is fairly warm here, with highs in the 80's.

Meals are to die for. Lots of very good Argentina beef, lamb, Malbec, I think I will gain lot's on this trip!

Head to a series of spring creeks tomorrow about an hour's drive west of Esquel.

Haven't yet decided on whether I will return to the states.

More reports to come, if I have Internet! Big if here.

Phil

PS: couldn't believe my eyes today, they had SLO Sucks Plates for sale in the local bait shop!

Buy those SLO Sucks plates before they run out. They will quickly get replaced with "Phil Sucks" upon your departure. The kiln firing takes awhile to cool down with the extra wording.

The "SLO Sucks" distribution network runs world wide now. We are now in almost as many countries as Sully has chins.

Have a good time down there ya rat bastard!
