Sand Steel and Ersters..... 17 Years, 11 Months ago
So, it is two weeks until the Great Experiment at whatever park it is (I forget) The second reason I am coming is to try my luck in one or more of those famous G coastal streams.

Since I have never done that, I need some help. (After I've done it a time or two, I'll STILL need help, but may be too dumb to know it)...

So, In terms of Rod, Line, tippet, flies, what should I be thinking about bringing?

[I got the Guinness and Jameson's figured out, and may bring something to eat (or not...) ]

Any real help appreciated. Smart remarks appreciated too, but not quite as much....

8 or 9 wt. Shooting heads in #1 or #1 sink. Any of the normal "steelhead" patterns, especially in Fl Oranges, Blacks, Reds, #4 to #10's should cover it. 2 or 3X tippets on a 7.5 to 9" leader.

Oops...that should be #1 or #2 sink. Wouldn't hurt, if you are going to hit the southern G to have a short section (2-3 ft) of LC13 or T14 to put on the end of the head to get down in some of the pools.

9wt? Holy snikes, no wonder you had shoulder surgery!

how do you loop the T-line on there? Need to develop a good way to add a sink tip to my floaters....do you go the braided mono way ala D Blanton?

http://www...n.com/gettinglooped.html

this one seems solid but kinda clumsy.....

Yes....
BTW: Started with a 9 wt for steelies in 1954....use what you have.

Shoulder surgery is from an old war injury.

Charlie,

Thanks. Sheesh!! in 1954, I was fishing for bluegills and perch with a cane pole and a bobber.

Course I still use a bobber from time to time.
