Hey Sierratrout 17 Years, 11 Months ago
Who pissed in your beer tonight?

Let me know next time you go fishing. I want to send the thieves your way next. Maybe you'll have less love for them and more pity for the victims then.

I guess being considered a "jackass" by you is a badge of honor to me. I watched a "non-pothead" at the ISE show in the parking lot return a dropped Mastercard and money clip to a guy when it would have been just as easy for him to walk off with it. No one else saw it and I only noticed because he made sure to return it to the rightful owner. Gave me hope for some of the teenagers around here.

Charlie S did! Is that Ukiah Charlie? Thought it was but maybe not....that guy crazy....

Anyway: Had a GLX my dad built me stolen while fishing the Yuba. Now he can't build me another due to lost motor skills form brain cancer. THAT is a real loss.

I smoke pot(with a valid prescription) and don't steal. I returned a guys XP with an evolution reel(what, about $1,000?) through another BB. And how do you know that guy didn't smoke? You'de be suprised....

All I'm saying is don't stereotype. And if ya do, do against meth heads!

Actually the truth is he can kill the man but her family will stone her to death in a pit.

Charlie...Charlie...Charlie,

I know that as a fly fisherman (see this is board related) you need to have some compassion for the thieves, perhaps they are just drug users (remember that drug use is a "victimless" crime) who require cash from the sale of stolen goods for their drugs...I say, the government should provide free drugs for the lifetime of the drug user...even potheads since pot has been proven to be a gateway drug...so, if sopmeone is a 19 year old drug user, who has passed through the gateway and is on the road to being a golden armed heroin user, and that person is caught stealing (or robbing, raping, etc)...a 19 year old is projected to live to the age of 70 (51 more years), so...inject that criminal who uses drugs with 51 years worth of heroin...ALL AT ONE TIME.

See, have compassion for the dirt bag, drug using thieves who don't know which one of their mom's 50 customers that night is their father, let them have drugs for life...regardless of how short it is.

I like it Paul, but it's just too easy. It won't be a deterent to crime by others. I love these prescription grass guys...no medical evidence that it helps except to make them feel good, which any narcotic would do, but let's not go there.

Yeah, I don't undstand how a doctor can "prescribe" a substance that is illegal in the state and illegal to obtain without losing his license to practice medicine. Whatever happened to the Hippocratic oath?

"I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice."

I don't doubt it! The one-bullet concept was related to me in Egypt...or Syria...it's been such a long time I can't remember where.

The answer is easy; leave medicine up to the doctors, not the politicians. These break-ins concern me, as they do all of us, because many of our days out on the water leaves our vehicles unattended, with much of our gear vulnerable to theft, by, as stated before, by tweaker/crack heads. Meth has been rampant across our country for decades, and it especially hits areas hard that are poor, uneducated and with little else to do. These areas do coincide with areas that our beloved steelhead like to spawn through. Meth is extremely physically addicting, and will “make” people do things that they normally would not, like steal. Whatever you feel the punishment should be, fine; whether it is cutting off of hands, single bullet through multiple people, chain-gang, jail time… your call. But these will all be reactionary, not preventative. I personally like the idea of electro-shock car alarms.

After befriending, and staying with locals who live on the Klamath, they described how things changed, economically and socially, once the logging industry left, without a replacement of work. The medicinal plant has and always will be there, and before Meth moved in, they had virtually zero crime. The gateway drug has more to do with lack of education and becoming disenfranchised. The plant is non physically addictive, and since it is very plentiful in Northern Ca, breaking into car to buy something that is basically free in the area, seems to be pretty dumb.

The original anti marijuana laws were passed in Texas to arrest the Mexicans. It is currently illegal due to pharmaceutical companies, (i.e Dow industries), who lobby from K Street to keep it illegal. Why you ask? Because companies like Dow want you to buy their drugs. My step mother had colon cancer, and as she was going through chemo, the pills that did not work as well to counter the ill effects cost $60.00 a piece. This was about 10 yrs ago… but you can do the math. The Hippocratic Oath has to do with ethics, not laws written by racists:

“I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice.” And “Whatever houses I may visit, I will come for the benefit of the sick, remaining free of all intentional injustice, of all mischief”

It sounds to me like they are doing their jobs, in spite of…

Unfortunate Solution 17 Years, 11 Months ago
After my van was broken into on the American and my new fly rod and reel AND spinning rod and reel (that was the day I gave up spin fishing!) were stolen I lost a bit of my trusting nature.

What I now do in NorCal is try to never leave anything in my van, anything, while I fish. This isn't easy, especially when I'm traveling and have checked out of a motel and the day's fishing locale is on the way to my next motel room. If it isn't too far, I'll consider checking in first and losing some fishing time.

What a pain in the ass!

Since that day, I've installed a car alarm and have upped my home insurance to cover anything that might get stolen. It totally sucks that I need to spend my hard-earned money on this kind of crap!

But, but, but . . . isn't your name Buzz?

If you get an illegal drug from an illegal alien doesn't two wrongs make it right. That said, I'll pour another Bombay and eschew all them dirty, dreaded lock pot heads.
