Shoulder Surgery 17 Years, 6 Months ago
I'm having my shoulder worked on tomorrow. I had to push it out a little so I could hunt last weekend, unsuccessful, but a nice time. Any way, they tell me it will be close for me to be recovered enough to fish during the Christmas vacation. I'll be working hard to be shape and hope to see a few of you on the water.
Please keep me in your prayers for a successful surgery and quick recovery.

Thanks,
Scott

...hope to see you up and around during the holidays. Is it the rotator cuff?

Yes, possible "slap lesion" or small tear in the rotator, a "spur" and "arthritis". If they don't need to repair the rotator the recovery will be much faster.

Re:Shoulder Surgery...getting old sure.... 17 Years, 6 Months ago
...does suck sometimes. My shoulders snap, crackle and
pop more than a bowl of $%$##@!! rice crispies!!

Thought I tore my rotator this summer, but turned out to
be a bad strain....hit it hard with hot and cold, but now
I have more annoying noises. And I hurt it picking up my
son. How pathetic is that!?

I can't imagine what I'm going to feel like (and sound like)
when I hit my 50/60's

Good luck with the surgery!

A speedy recovery, Brother 17 Years, 6 Months ago
I won't be seeing you out there at Christmas, but I hope you're able to give it a good shot. I have a buddy who has a bad shoulder, and he spey casts instead of overhead casting. Apparently that's more gentle on the shoulder.

If that's what you need to do, have someone show you the double spey cast. After failing miserably at the spey thing, I was able to handle that on in an afternoon.

A steelhead fly fisherman needs two qualities:
A strong casting arm and a room temperature IQ.
