The Trinity is not "crowded".

Please stop complaining about crowds.

This is crowded.

That's not crowded...that's a mob scene. At least, you CAN fly fish when it's crowded. No FF ops here!

If that's the Feather/Lake Oroville afterbay, I've seen it more crowded than that. It's crazy down there!! Same for over by the 70 overpass.

Reminds me of a time in WA when I squeezed (squoze?) into a gear-intensive lineup at a little creek full of big ugly chum salmon. I was doing OK with one of those clear tip lines that has ten feet or so of transparent intermediate material at the end.

At least, I was doing OK until one of my fish decided to go downstream while the next guy's fish decided to go upstream. Chums are not easily convinced that they have picked the wrong direction, and clear tip lines are no match for monofilament! I finished the day with two feet of clear tip where there used to be ten.

Oddly enough, that adjustment was just what I needed to almost completely cut down on the foul hooking. After that I started to really do great instead of just OK!

you're right. you could triple up all those heads on the opposite shore and it would be a slow day.

Just the opposite of what I had this weekend 17 Years, 6 Months ago
Friday I fished Carbon Flats late and there was one other person. Beautiful. Fish were active and I had my best two hours there ever.
The next day I tried something different in the morning (25 degrees....looking for those big browns...) to no avail so I headed back to Carbon and had a wonderful "late morning" time of it. Another several fish in the 16-18" range and several more under 12". Took a nap and went to where I thought there would be big crowds, PH2. No one there! One truck pulling out at about 5 pm. This is a 75 degree day! A Saturday! A funny little hatch went off and I was having a great time catching fish on dries in November.

When I was a kid I went, just one time, with my older brother to fish the mouth of the Russian and my memory of that is lots of people and lots of fish with many tangled lines. Then and there started my love of small streams and uncrowded fishing.....Which I also got to do this weekend.

Amen Brother! 17 Years, 6 Months ago
I have been there with snaggers lined up 4 deep, and maybe 150 more people crammed in there. The thing was, there were fly anglers there, casting from the east bank, i just didn't have a wide angle lens. We need about 20 or 30 boats in there too to round out a normal "busy" day. Some people don't know what crowded "is" (using Slick Willie terms).
