Gotta be Bridgeport. I am surprised it isn't $5 a gallon there.
If you don't get gas in Denio and you need it, you can be really screwed. I seem to remember having to drive into the next town in Oregon to try to get gas when I was in Denio because it wasn't available at the time. After that I started carrying a jerry can in Nevada.

You are looking at the future. It's a limited resource and those Two plus billion folks in China and India are starting to use their share.
Brace yourself, it ain't gonna get much better until we get serious about alternate energy sources.

...had I taken the Motorcycle this weekend I would have ended up paying something like $20 instead of damn near $70...I know I couldn't (or wouldn't want) to afford that every week.

How about alternative sources of oil within the USA...like ANWR, and off shore fields?

We would be taking delivery of that oil about now if it had gone through...

Yes!
And with the construction and operation of the necessary additional refineries, additional jobs would have been created by the private sector, creating additional tax revenue to support the government and additional R&D resources for the energy companies to investigate other fuel alternatives.

Prices bad in Mammoth, but nothing near as bad as Bridgeport. If I have to buy gas in Mammoth, I always try to have just enough gas to get me to Minden/Gardnerville.
How was the fishing???

The oil companies invested some of the huge profits they've made the last few years in true alternatives to non-renewable fuels, the wilderness remains wild, jobs are created in the alternative fuel industry, tax dollars are generated, etc. Just a thought.
