Taxidermy recommendation please - reproduction 17 Years, 6 Months ago
Hi,

I had a great trip to Alaska this year with my wife. I was thinking of getting her a repro of one of her rainbows. Can any of you recommend a reproduction taxidermist?

Thanks,

John

You might try Carbone's Guide Service in Prineville, Oregon. I fished with him a week ago and believe he does reproductions. I know he does carvings, and does outstanding work!

Beautiful carvings Phil...I called to get a price but I guess he's out fishing. And John the colors on that rainbow sure jump out at you - beautiful fish.

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.

If you talk to him, mention I referred you. He may not remember my name. Rich Chicca and I fished with him about 10 days ago on the Deschutes. Good Guide!

If I mention your name is he going to charge me more or less???
Did you drift or walk the Deschutes? I used to fish it quite a bit both for the steelies and the redsides. I must admit I sure do miss it.

Probably more!

We drifted Trout Creek to Warm Springs both days. Nice float.

Steve Stassi is an excellent taxidermist. He has won numerous awards for his blacktail mounts and does a great job on everything he does. He makes reproduction fish mounts.

He is located just East of Marysville in Hallwood.

Stassi Taxidermy
8269 Hallwood Blvd
Marysville, CA 95901

Phone: (530) 741-0843

For the sake of full disclosure, Steve is my cousin.
Let him know that I sent you. You won't get a price break, but he will probably tell you stories about me that I wouldn't tell you.
