Well, the Boise river runs right through town. If you're willing to do a little traveling, there's the South fork of the Boise. There are a couple of Fly shops in town that can give you more up to date info.

Pat
I just go down to Barber Park and fish PT flashbacks....also some good dry action (little BWOs) along the (mountain-side) edges and even some hits on grasshoppers while running hopper-droppers (I dont do bobicators, not with Uncle Jack around).
If you have time for a 1 hour drive, hit the Owyhee in east Orgon out of Adrian (bring PMDs and wait for the hatch) or the South Fork Boise, which is low (great!) now. ....or take a 10 hour drive to the Frying Pan.(hahaha)

And if you want to use a Porsche to go.....never mind

Sounds about right there, HinH. There's also a trophy trout pond in Nampa with some extremely large fish in it. (Look up "Wilson Springs" for more info.) It depends on what you mean by "immediate", though. The Boise River goes right through town, so it's easily the most immediate to Boise proper. Lots of options -- take your pick!

Depending on where and when you're here maybe we can hook up to fish. That reminds me Harry -- you need to let me know when you're around here! We'll fish together sometime! Two oldtime NCFFBers should fish, don't you think?

TD you're right as rain, and I apologize for not making time. I never even made it to the Oywhee! Don't know where you fish either.

Next time you're up I may just have to introduce you to the trophy pond. Everyone who visits it gets huge kick out of it! There are some pretty big fish in that little place! Let me know when you're in the area again and maybe we can do some damage.

-- T.

PS -- you spelled "Owyhee" correctly. What you misspelled was "Oregon"! LOL

Just got back from ID last Tuesday. Boise is a wonderful town. For good info: Riverkeeper on Broadway. And, yes, Cabela's is there (if you have any money left after you depart NV).

Barber Park is nice if you're fishing in town. We fished the S Fork Boise 5 miles downstream from Anderson Dam for a few days. Low water (no floating). Fishing fair. Weather tough (rain, wind). bwo's.

IF YOU CAN: Silver Creek (5 miles E of 20/93 junction). Owned by the Nature Conservancy. Bring a float tube. You can camp at the fish hatchery for nothing.

The Big Wood (Ketchum) had some good bwo hatches 1-4 pm.

We did 5 days floating the Owyhee at the end of July. pmd hatch extraordinaire. SMALLEST fish: 16 inches. However, the browns do not do aerobatics like rainbows. They will put a hell of a bend in your rod, though.

I have fished the Wilson ponds - - parents originally moved to Idaho to Nampa, and them ponds were only minutes away - - gotta do some slick backcasts in that trophy pond. Did nail a few trophy browns in there though.
