Can't speak for the Sac because I haven't spent much time up there lately. But I can speak for the American, and I can tell you that if I relied on shad reports I never would have gone out once this year (and I've been out about 10 times!). And that would have been a mistake, because I've gotten a lot of shad this year! Last time I went, my son Chris went out the evening before and it was dead, only a couple fish were caught. The next day was a fifty fish day landed. With anadromous fish you never know, they could be there one day and gone the next. But I would listen to my guide, and if he recommended to cancel, I would trust their word and cancel.
