Well, arrived here last night to rain. There was snow on all of the passes between Washington and here. ALL of the rivers crossed were very high and dirty. Dennis has pictures from the first part of the week showing 3 inches of snow on the deck. He has not fished yet as it has been raining/snowing every day. A light rain/snow mix outside right now and there is more snow on the surrounding mountains than when we were there in May. It is looking up as it is predicted to be in the 70's by Friday. We may actually get in some fishing this weekend if the warmer weather doesn't bring on a fast snow melt. I will try to keep you posted. What I can say is that August/Septmeber may be some pretty good fishing.

Your handle reminds me of when my daughter was little (she's 24 now). We used to call her "young lady", and she began referring to herself (in child speak) as a "Lung LadyBug". Good memories.

Thanks for the update. I'll be headed out that way in a little over a week to do a 4 day drift. Talked to some friends out there who said the BH should be in good shape about then, but with this crazy weather who knows....

Geez I wish I was up there.....fishing or no fishing, that's god's country!

Well, I had an unbeleivably sucky day at work so I decided to spend lunch fishing since the weather has made a dramatic change for the better. 1 hour to fish and take my mind off the idiot decisions that can be made at the top. Headed for the river and within an hour had 6 fish to hand. Most were cookie cutter but who cares when you are on the water. The river is high and fast but has decent clarity for now. The trick was the lowly san jaun worm. I have never fished this thing but a couple of guys stopped by to chat and said that was what they were hitting on. One of them gave me a SJW and I had a fish on the second cast. Well, that is about it for today. Hopefully I will be able to get out again after work but for now it is back to the grind.

Goofuss just walked back and had the same luck I had accept his fish were bigger.

Sorry about the bad start to the day, but any day you catch fish is a good one in my book. 6 in an hour is bonus!

SJWs eh? I can tie those....Glad to hear that about the clarity, thanks.

Worms?? Well, here's the deal as I understand it; rain = high water = washed/erroded banks = worms in the water. The fish key on the meal of the day. So next time you see high water after rain or during runoff.....go for the SJW's, they're killer!!

Well, Saturdays fishing was ok. Got out for a couple of hours between chores. Not as good as Friday but they were still on SJW and black rubber legs. Sunday was a whole different story. Catching has slowed WAY down and the weather has warmed way up. The river is still a green/brown with about 2 feet visability for now. With the above normal temps for the next few days I think we will be seeing a lot more brown than green.

I too have a MeasureNet and I love it.

It has three things going for it:

1. It takes the guesswork out of sizing your fish.
2. It is very light and has the nylon mesh bag that is easy on the fish.
3. It is very inexpensive.
