Yep...there are bones in Hawaii.
Fished Oahu for a couple days. Not a ton of flats, and the tides have to be right, but managed 8 hook-ups, with one 8 lb. fish broke off (set too hard), two spit the hook after the first run, and 5 (yes FIVE) fish cut my line on coral. Thought I'd lose my whole line a couple times, as the backing was wrapped on coral, but deep wading and determination saved me $60.
Zero to hand, but still a great time hunting/stalking them in "Paradise" and hearing that Galvan reel scream. Getting worked over like that makes me love the sport and that particular fish that much more.

Bonefish have got to be one of the most challenging fish to chase with a fly rod. Especially larger fish or pressured fish.

Those of you who have not done it, you owe it to yourself.

Can't wait to get back on the flats!
