I ask for forgiveness from the fishing gods! 18 Years, 3 Months ago
Well, after 3 seasons of fishing the hot Montana summers I finally had to do it. It was covered with melted floatant. I had to wash my fishing vest. I know it is bad but I just could not help myself. It does give me the hope that a trip back to Mt. is just around the corner. We might have gone this month but the snow is deep and I am in a cast on my left wrist for another 4 weeks. Looks like this year may be back to the normal heavy runoff in late June early July but we will see. I am really getting excited. If anyone is going to be at the Madison the week of May 12th through the 24th or any part of the spring/summer drop us a line and we can hook up for some fishing in our little part of heaven and maybe a BBQ and some

Oh man..... That is REALLY dangerous. Hope it works out okay

Hope your wrist heals more quickly than you think it will, too.

Hey Daughter.....

I echo Ed K's comments about your injury...next time you want to hit your hubby use your wading staff.

The Fish Gods may not forgive you for washing your vest but all of those of us standing down wind will worship the ground upon which you stand!!!

Hopefully Patty and I can make it up there this summer and camp out in your yard.

Hey Jan,

What about red wine and cigars on the back deck after coming off the river at 10:00???

I don't know what to tell you about washing the vest or the cast on your wrist. Neither sounds like it will help your fly fishing! The vest washing is just pure bad luck.....you'd be better off burying it and purchasing a new used one at a garage sale. The wrist thing may impact your ability to mend, or print words on paper plates and take pictures with a large stuffed trout to post on the web!

Look forward to glory hole reports. Likely I will have to live vicariously through your posts as I carelessly spent way too much vacation recently wine tasting down south and likely can't make it to Montana this summer. But who knows, maybe I'll break down and catch a plane north on a moments notice based on a good fishing report.

Jan,

Washing a vest isn't a bad thing...excess floatant can be more effectivly wiped onto a clean vest than on a dirty one...take care of the injury and remember, the hand was designed to hold a club, not to be a club...follow Charlie's advise and use your sfaff on him next time...

That would be way cool if you guys could make it up. Let us know when you plan on it. Our schedule this summer is just a little bit in question because of work. I do know that Dennis' son and daughter-in-law will be with us July 11th through the 19th.

The story of how I actual fractured my wrist is so boring that I now tell everyone I did it poll dancing.

Hey Jan,

Hoping for some quick healing. As for washing your vest, I did that ONCE. After that, I was skunked for the rest of the season.

Hope all is well with you and Dennis.

I think I did something worse, I bought a new vest, and not a traditional looking vest. I bought the fishpond wasatch with the backback and hydration system. I still have my old, perfectly functional vest, did converting to the new vest ruin my fishing Karma??..yet to be determined.

Wow Jan. I hadn't heard about your injury. Hope you heal quickly. Boy, I wish I could meet up with you guys this summer, but my social planner has us going in different directions...until October! But it's all fun. Take care.

Hey Jan,
Sorry to hear about your wrist. We wish you a speedy recovery.
I think Joey and I will be going to MT again this year. We will work with Kelly to determine the best time to come out. Joey had a great time last year at Kelly’s' place. He could fish hard and come back and play like a kid and fish hard at night. I asked him if we should explore new rivers and he said why would we do that when we have the Madison. As far as your vest goes all I can say is that I clean my lines, reels, rods, boots, and waders. I call it maintenance and when Joey hears that he runs for the hills. I think my vest has been washed once in 10 years+.

Get Well,

Jet & Joey
