Don't know how many have been following the fire reports but I just received this from Janet up in Cassell. I'm sure prayers would be appreciated:

"Right now we are on evacuation alert and packing stuff of importance. The fire jumped 299 and is headed our way. Keep your fingers crossed! Jan"

This is getting crazy. I can hardly see the mountains behind my house as the smoke is so thick..

I hope all is well for them when this round is over. Good thing is they are close to the fire station.

Oh Man, that's serious. And here I was whining about smoke in the valley. One tends to forget that that smoke is causing real life dramas and heartache to real people, some of whom we know.

Our prayers and best wishes to Janet and Dave.

What's the word from Shingletown?

Sincerely,
El Rey

Eeks. I saw a report on a Hat Creek fire, but didn't have details. I sure hope they make out OK.

Janet and Dave, I sure hope you guys don't need to make any trip.

Thanks El Rey for asking -- we were also on evacuation alert, with our cameras/computer stuff packed and a big fire about 2 miles up. Watched it warily. Lost power, which just came back on. Big sigh of relief. I think Road Dog is well above it. Thanks for the call, UC. I am so thankful for the overstressed firefighters.

Up here in Shingletown the smoke is halfway tolerable; down in Redding it's fairly choking.

Hey Charlie and all,

Our thoughts and prayers are with Janet and Dave as well as all the folks out there facing this real crisis. Dana's Mother still lives in Ukiah and she says she can hardly see the hills that are right behind her house the smoke is so thick !

Sorry to hear about the evacuation alerts. Glad to hear that everone is safe, which is the most important thing. Was up in Chester on Saturday fishing when the lighting strikes hit Saturday afternoon. Later that evening saw fire trucks driving up and down Hwy 32.

My prayers are with all who are in harm's way.

Got a telephone call from Janet. She said they are now safe. They had a two hour warning to pack up and get ready to move out but the fire was stopped. She went on to say that you cannot believe how much stuff you can take down, pack away and put in cars in just two hours. She is now reorganizing and will have her computer, etc, unpacked and ready to go in the near future. Happy news, finally!
