A suggestion for the Steering committee. 18 Years, 2 Months ago
Many of the bulletin boards have an ignore poster function. So when a bobicating, wanna be cowboy, port drinking wanna be steelheader from arizona posts on the board you dont have to view his posts or any of the threads he started.

I bet it would cut down on about 90 percent of bs that happens on the board. Westfly has this feature and it works.

You forgot to blame me for the lousy economy... 18 Years, 2 Months ago
Kennedy's assassination, the hanging chad fiasco and, of course, the war in Iraq.

You apparently haven't noticed (or maybe mommie wasn't around to read to you what the adults wrote on the NCFF, but I took a month long hiatus from the board to take care of business. When I returned, I found no less than 3 train wrecks, of which I had absolutely no participation, or very little at the end.

And, you S.O.B., the next time we fish together, you ain't gettin' no port, AND, you S.O.B. the next time we fish together I'll catch the same number of steelies as you do, just like the last time!

And, as for your rockets Mike, don't feel like you have to hold back just because I offered you an olive branch. I know you really don't mean all those cruel things you write and you're just dying to meet me sos you kin buy this wannabe cowboy a beer.

Iffn you plan to sling any arrows of outrageous fortune in my direction, do it soon. I leave for Wyoming in a week, with plenty of dries. I just have to figure out how to rig 'em with an indicator.

We've gotten conflicting reports. The native woman who is driving us up to the trailhead (and charging $500 for a 10 mile ride, round trip), said we can make it.

Of course, if we cancel, she's out $500. We're going anyhow. If we have to, we'll fish the lower areas...but I hope we don't have to! No 20" goldens there.

Re:Nature abhors a vacuum 18 Years, 2 Months ago
Remember when all the long-time members of the board participated,
I haven't noticed many of the old time folks (I use that in a respectful way) chiming in encouragement and props for positive posts lately, or making any of their own.

The "Long Time Members' seem to be participating as much as everyone else. Here you go again blaming certain folks for the lack of participation around here. Nobody is posting much anymore, not just certain people. This place got turned on it's head and it threw everyone for a loop. Posting dropped off immediately and there just isn't much to respond to these days.

How many recent fishing reports have just disappeared down the list because either no one reads them or everyone just takes the information without thought of giving something back. Oh, I forgot, you've all paid your dues and now everybody owes you. I call BS!

Are you suggesting that the "Long Time Posters" are taking information and not giving anything back? The LURKERS are the one's taking info and not giving anything back. You're way off base, the long time posters have given plenty back. I have no idea what you mean by the everyone owes you line. I'm calling BS....

But they sure are quick to fire back at the posters they don't like, and then complain when posts that everyone thinks SUCK (negatively) get deleted. CENSORSHIP!

They? You're saying all the long time posters are doing this? Posts that everyone thinks sucks? Did you ask everyone or decide on your own what everyone else thinks sucks???

I wonder why they don't join in and add to the POSITIVE side of the equation, and the crap postings will fall to the bottom and not get so loud that they have to be deleted, instead of complaining about the lack of positive content?

I'm not following you here. Your post seems to be suggesting that the long time posters are responsible for everything negative around here and now your saying that they are also the one's complaining about the negative stuff??? BTW, nothing HAS to be deleted. You have a heavy delete finger. You should let the others decide what needs to be deleted. You should also get rid of that stupid ass thread locking button. I've seen that used on other boards and there is a progression that happens with that feature. It won't be long and you'll be using it to lock threads after you've thrown your final comments in. I'm sure you'll say it won't happen but I've seen it progress to that everywhere I've seen that feature used. That's not a moderating tool, it's a censoring tool.

If you don't like the way the board has been going, take it back!

From whom I wonder?

Not sure I understand the dynamics of someone coming on the board to tell everyone they are not going to play anymore. Yep guys I guess this board sucks. We do things like:

Raise money for people in the group that need a helping hand

<that was the old board, with the "others" who have left for their "private board".
They just occasionally come back here to stir trouble.>

Send get well cards to people that are sick

<that was the old board, with the "others" who have left for their "private board". They just occasionally come back here to stir trouble.>

Dispatch people to help someone that needs it

<that was the old board, with the "others" who have left for their "private board". They just occasionally come back here to stir trouble.>

Gather together to provide materials for kids learning to fly fish

<that was the old board, with the "others" who have left for their "private board". They just occasionally come back here to stir trouble.>

Get together not only to fish but on a personal basis just to BS with friends
And now that everyone has left how many people went to the spring bash? 1/3rd of normal? You need to get with the times, ma'am.

Yep I'd say that stuff pretty much sucks...

If you don't want any controversy go to a board that is highly monitored. If you want lots of controvery go to a board that has no monitoring. One guy is quiting because a controversal thread was removed. You just can't win!

Surprise, surprise, you're still a [expletive deleted]. You must be a "other".

Purpose of "Other" on this board: cause troublesome posts like the ones you did about pot users that drove people off, and then go back to your "OTHER" board to have fun after you have done your monkeywrenching here.

Gee Stan, what a nice fellow you are, thank you for the personal insult, at least you didn't call me a bastard...if I were (and I am not), it would be beause of an accident at birth but you appear to be a self made man..and, I am not aware of any board that goes by the name of "Other"...sorry that I don't live up to your expectations however, I don't believe that I will lose a lot of sleep over your opinions about me.

That was less than useful input, Stan.
Let's talk about positive contributions. Perhaps you even have some? Or are you part of the other board and just here to pile on and stir things up?

Sure would like to have seen you at the Bash.
