I gotta buy one of those before I head to the Bash. That's sad. It is midway through June.

welp...eureaka. in my shorts pocket in my wader bag. Had to meditate on it...and it came to me where it was.

Paul>> the man will bust you iffn you don't have the original...I'd put money on it.

JohnD>> U mean by "The carbon copy"....the application for a duplicate license? If so, It says right on it..."Not a valid license" Don't hang your hat on that.

I've lost more than one going through brush and having the thing get ripped off... I'm not a fan, but I'd bet it makes it easier for the .25 wardens we have to see if you are wearing it or not from .25 miles.

I'm aware. I just can't see someone citing me if I have that. On the other hand, I did get cited in VA by a notorious warden for a trout tag that was a day expired.......while 2 guys were poaching in the river with a net.

B>> I lost the saftey pin it attaches with. I put it on a button. Quickly, I realized that was a accident waiting to happen. I put it in my shorts pocket and forgot about it.

One time last Feb. on the Lower Tuolumne, I was sitting in my lawnchair waiting for the risers...yep a lawnchair...too many holes in the waders from sitting in a bad spot! (thornes & who knows what) Luckily LL bean replaces em no problem...unlike some other wader company...but I digress. Whilst I was waiting for the hatch, ( a floatilla of pmds that looked like tiny sailboats floating downstream) I see this warden drive by on the south side of the river. He stops, backs up,... eyeballs me from a quarter mile away!-- He parks, gets out, starts eyeballing me with the binocs.....I whip up my license, he keeps looking...I then break out my delta card...he keeps looking, then I whip out the steelhead tag...that got him on his way. I later ran into him again that day. We chuckled about it.

I've seen where having that duplicate does get you by. I was fishing Frenchman's, the ramp at Davis was closed, and the boat cop was checking for licenses at the boat ramp. One lady just had the dup lic and he let her slide. He's a nice guy, the boat cop, but I sure wouldn't count on this being the norm.

I know I've left the license home on more than one occasion - perhaps the solution is you could be injected with a tag like they do on dogs for ID....

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.

it could be worse, in the east coast you have to wear your hunting license on your back...dumbest law ever. I never lost a license until this stupid law in ca. now i lose one a year because it is not in my wallet, and it really doesn't help the wardens much, they still have to check your license, it is amazing how many idiots try and use their buddy's license
