As I recalled, they planted a bunch of eagle lake rainbows after the nuking...

Hey Paul....I haven't been out there for a couple of weeks now but yes the Eagle Lake trout have been planted this past Friday and the numbers and size look pretty good.
We've had some pretty good winds up this way, even a bit of snow which I think has kept people off the lake.
The fishing should be pretty good once those trout have had a chance to acclimate to the new water - should be just about right by the time you return.

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.

I'm Back,,at least I am back in the good ole California, Now, as far as being back for fishing, well..I'm off to see the Doc this morning about this $#@#$ elbow!!!
I've always enjoyed fishing Davis so hopefully it not DOA (pun intended)

Opps - Sorry Paul I thought you were still over sea's. Yeah we've all got our fingers crossed - hopefully Davis will return to it's former days of glory, bugs and all.

If I can get the demands of the war department out of the way by Sunday, I think I might give Davis a try on Monday. Let me know if you're thinkin' along the same lines Pete, Carpy?

Hey Mike....I'm still really limited in being able to get out and fish with poor old Sammie. Unfortunately I don't have a wife to leave her home with, dang I knew there was a reason for marriage and with these seizures I can't leave her by herself. I might try and head out to Jenkins where I can leave her in the car while I shore fish for a bit...it's not great but it beats the alternative.

Welcome home carpy. You came back at teh right time and missed the 100 degree days we had last week. Today it feels like its time to break out the jacket again.

Doc said no fishing or other strtenious exercise ( I like this Doc) for a week while I take some meds, then if no improvement, this cortizone shot time.
So,,,I putter around....eat
nap
tie some flies
nap
read a bit
eat
and so on..

Fished Davis from float tube last Wednesday. Wind was really blowing and it was cold. Our group caught only one 10" rainbow with no other takes or bumps.

Fished Davis for four hours @ Eagle Point yesterday. Saw a worm dunker catch 3 fish in about 45 minutes, a gentleman trolling rapalas pick up two in maybe an hour and a half, & I brought 4 to hand with a couple of other grabs. Weather was (duh) overcast, some light rain, light breezes, and mild temps. Caught two on a small bugger, one on a hare's ear & one on a sheep creek special.
The gentleman in the boat had a happy go lucky lab with him. I could tell each time he had a fish on because the lab would get pretty animated. He (Eric, not the dog) took a break and relaxed under a tree while the light rain came down...the lab grabbed the ball cap off Eric's head and proceded to play keep away for five minutes or so...at one point he ran off maybe 10 yards, dropped the cap and started rolling on it - quite funny. I thought about you and Sammie, Pete.
The nest in the standing snag is intact and looks good Pete. Didn't see any birds using it yet, but it's definately available!
