Hi,
Thanks very much to all of you for your thoughts, prayers, good wishes, and other appeals to higher powers.
Turned out that the perforation was worse than I originally knew. It was caused by an abdominal aortic aneurism, that cut off the blood flow to part of the colon. That happened a few days before she finally agreed to see a doctor. A section of the colon had died from lack of blood supply. The surgeon said: "When I opened her up, it was just like soup in there. The abdominal cavity was full of feces." She was in ICU for about 40 hours, then out Thursday afternoon.
This morning she was moved back to ICU because she was having difficulty breathing and maintaining her oxygen saturation. She's there now, and will be for a few days they say. She is re-intubated with a breathing tube, and her vitals are very good, in fact, as we left, her oxygen saturation level was 100%.
Most of the kids are here, one en route.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers and thoughts.
