Well we decided to scrap drifting the L. Sac and instead went to the Yuba. The fishing was very slow us and those we spoke with on Sat. I hooked a total of 4 fish, one of which was a large pike minnow that took a streamer.
Sunday we fished the North Fork of the Feather which turned out to be a different kind of frustration. The fishing was good but a lost the first 10 fish that I hooked. I finally landed a few 12 inchers and one nice 17 inch Rainbow. After that I lost several more really nice fish, including one well over 20 inches that jumped two feet out the water. The hot fly on the NFF was an olive tailwater special, similar to a micro mayfly. I only had four of these flies and lost them all to nice fish. Time to buy new tippet material or hook smaller fish. If not for the wind and poor technique, I could have landed over 20 fish.
It was nice to be on the river one last time before our baby is born. I have a feeling it will awhile before I get back out there.
Dave.
The only pic fro the Yuba.
