Just use red wire and that's it. The guy who had such success with this pattern didn't have any white beads, so he used pearlescent crystal braid to form his head. The day before we saw this guy catching fish so well with his size 8 midge, I had seen an emerging bug, a midge I think, in the water in front of me that looked very much like the fly. Dave also saw one the next day. The guy who was so successful had fish rolling in front of him also---just their backs were coming out of the water---clearly they were going after emergers.

Give it a try. don't know if it is a seasonal thing or what.
