I tied flies for three days at the ISE. On the positive side, they moved all of the fly tyers out onto the main floor, along with the fly tying theater. With fewer vendors, they had room! Much better setup than past years. And being on the main floor, a lot more traffic by the tying table. However, there were minimal fly fishing vendors at the show. Zero fly tying materials and a dissapointment to attend solely relating to fly fishing. If you're a fly tyer, it was a great chance to talk one on one with some of the best fly tyers going. The tying activities were going full steam all show. I had the good fortune to sit next to Bob Clouser one day and Dan Blanton the next. Listening to both was magical for all of the expertise they bring to our sport. I also spent some time soliciting many of my peers to represent some of their favorite patterns for our fly of the month feature here on the NCFFB. I have a number of commitments and we should see some very innovative patterns over the next number of months. Stay tuned!
