Long time reader, first time poster.

While I understand that Orvis may not be everyone's cup of tea, they are not all bad. If you have fished $3 Bridge in the last couple years (or plan to in the future), you have Orvis to thank for part of that access still being in public hands. When the landowner decided he wanted to sell off that property, Orvis teamed with a number of public and private entities to buy the place and keep it open to the public. Orvis matched funds with private donations to get the money to keep it open to the public. The rest of the valley is growing out of control, and the river is being cut off by rich, mostly out of state folks, but this section of river will remain open to public access in perpituity. Orvis was not the only one, but they gave a huge amount of money to get this done, and I for one applaud their effort.

By the way, the fishing there is top notch now, and there are no people to contend with. Which is a welcome change from the summer months.
